Hovind arrested

Kent Hovind's scofflaw habits are catching up with him:

A Pensacola evangelist was arrested Thursday and indicted in federal court on 58 charges that include income tax evasion, making threats against investigators and filing false complaints against Internal Revenue Service agents.

Try not to snicker too loudly out there. It's not nice to laugh at the misfortunes of others.

Fortunately, I'm not a very nice person.

New details are coming to light. I don't think Hovind is a very nice person, either.

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.

A bullshit artist like Hovind should have known better–it doesn’t pay to bullshit Uncle Sam.

Ah, there is nothing like the morally self-righteous being caught with their pants down. Hovind should call Jim Bakker for advice on how to deal with the feds and how to prepare for the up and coming move.

At least it’s proof there’s a God.

Maybe now he’ll have the time to debate in written format. It’s easy to have enough time to drive or fly around one of the largest nations in the world to be a part of a spoken debate, but trying to find the time to write things down… Well, I guess that’s the kind of time that only jailbirds have available to them.

Just wait until they find his stash of kiddie porn…

“U.S. Magistrate Judge Miles Davis handed down the indictment against Kent Hovind…”

I’ve always been a big fan of his since his first quintets with Coltrane.

Didn’t he read Matthew 22:21?

Hmph, some evangelist.

Be careful in the shower Kent. Good looking boy like yourself.….…..

Hovind’s clever accounting is well documented at http://www.kent-hovind.com/revenue.htm

I, for one, would like to hear what the judge has to say about his reasoning. http://gnosos.blogspot.com/2006/07/[…]rrested.html

I hope the Feds have better luck collecting from him than these folks did.

vel,

i think it is entirely inappropriate that you are suggesting that hovind has a stash of kiddie porn. it is far more responsible to wait until the government announces the discovery of the stash, though we admittedly don’t know how long that might take. you’ll just have to hold your horses for a while.

Whoa, whoa. “Making threats against investigators”? Why is, sadly, there no more about this juicy little tidbit in the article?

And on a much less serious note: Dre, can we instead claim that there’s evidence of kiddie-porn-related-activities instead? :-)

I hope he tries to flee the country. He’ll get media attention as a creationist loon, and then extra time in prison.

Clearly, with this news, advocates of Evolution have met their Waterloo.

Just wait until they find his stash of kiddie porn…

This is why I thought that the cops took Prof. Paul Mirecki’s computers while pretending to investigate the physical attack aginst him.

This possibility seems to me to be another very good reason to maintain recent backups.

Maybe Carl Baugh is next. Does anybody know if he’s been cutting tags off of mattresses?

To think that Hovind and his wife could get more than 100 charges together - who knew they were so creative?

If he flees the country, don’t be surprised if he holes up with Sun Myung Moon.

Is he going to change his itenerary?

BTW, Hovind has a blog now; although there is nothing currently on it about his arrest.

I think Hovind was hoping the tax law would evolve.

Wikipedia is pretty damn fast sometimes. The Kent Hovind pages is already updated with news of his arrest. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kent_Hovind

He’ll deny the evidence, true to form.

“BTW, Hovind has a blog now”

oh man, hovind wants bus-painting suggestions. I’m in! I’m thinking of logos like “creationism: it’s not a lie if it gets people to church”

this hilarious entry from hovind’s earlier blog entry:

“May 9 at 11 am is the hearing for Judge Michael Allen to reconsider his order to close the buildings. There are at least 35 serious problems with his order. If he does not reverse it and we appeal over his head and win, it will sure look bad on his record and may end his career as judge. Glen Stoll’s Abatement filed last week in this case points out all the flaws in his order. I will post it as soon as I can.”

fundies never seem to tire of imagining that they wield power they don’t have

There are at least 35 serious problems with his order. If he does not reverse it and we appeal over his head and win, it will sure look bad on his record and may end his career as judge.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh good LORD. What is it about courts that bring out the best in creationists.

Re “I’m thinking of logos like “creationism: it’s not a lie if it gets people to church””

What if it has the exact opposite effect? ;)

Henry

I think the bus is already designed.

Small high up passenger windows, Florida State Department of Corrections written on the side with yellow license plates starting with “DC” and ending in 4 numbers.

No need to reward for the design,

Although a hit of LSD would go down nice with that set of DVD’s he’s offering the winner of the design contest.

In the future, all responses to Hovind’s $250,000 “challenge” should be sent to the Federal Correctional Institution, Coleman, Florida, c/o “Bubba”

“What is it about courts that bring out the best in creationists.”

This thread was pretty interesting. I didn’t anticipate Hovind supporters coming out of the woodwork ready to throw themselves in front of the guy.

But I suppose that’s the “Riddle of Steel.”
