Acting! On the web!

Are you a voice talent? Want to participate in an online drama? Sign up for a part in a podcast recreation of parts of the Dover trial. It should be fun, if you're into that kind of thing.

I'm not volunteering, I'm afraid. I can't act, and I'm also afraid that the closest match to my voice would be Michael Behe, and I'd die of mortification.

Bill Buckingham should be voiced by Dan Castellaneta, and Michael Behe should be voiced by Dana Snyder.

Were any of the people in the trial English and posh-sounding? That’s my voice.

I don’t know. I wasn’t there. So don’t let that stop you. Pick a role and a session and have at it.

You may also need a pronounciation guide for difficult words and names: for example, I don’t know how to pronounce Muise.

How’d you like to be the narrator? You could give a brief introduction, read the parenthesized bits, and give the credits at the end.

I supposed anyone who has laryngitis can play Bill Dembski?

I’m very happy to sign up. I may be a little too English though

Wow, thanks for the heads-up, or the larynx-up, or whatever! I’d love to participate, and will try to make a recording tonight.

I am so going for Buckingham. It’s like Sling Blade but with Pennsylvania all over it. This is one of the best ideas I’ve ever read. Sweet.

If there were any pirates at Dover, I’ll audition.

As a tip for anyone else, you should be speaking over the top of your microphone. You should be facing forward with the microphone in front of but lower than your lips. If you speak directly into it, the stop consonants will be a huge mess.

P-Z! Be-he! P-Z! Be-he!

I do a dead-on impression of Bullwinkle, but I don’t think you need him in your cast. Unless you really want to do an ad hominem attack job on someone like Behe.

Oh, I misread that heading: “Achtung! On the web!”… Maybe I´d qualify for the German (or, more likely, Swedish) voiceover?

The thing about the panda trial is that the IDists got a fair break every step of the way, and still managed to make themselves look like fools. So I see no reason to inject additional snark or nastiness.

Just portray them as they would themselves, and they’ll trip themselves up on their own.
