Silk button galls – eggs laid by Neuroterus numismalis, or silk-button gall wasp. These gall wasps exhibit sexual and asexual reproduction in successive generations, as detailed in the article cited. The silk buttons, so called bacause they look like they are wrapped in silk thread, are deposited by females in the agamic, or asexual, generation.
