Aix sponsa – (male) wood duck, pond in Slater Memorial Park, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Mr. Eissenberg writes, "Rhode Island is home to several duck species – mallards, mergansers, buffleheads, ring necks – but none are as resplendent as the wood duck."
