Seek, by iNaturalist, identified it as Oncorhynchus nerka – sockeye salmon.
Clearly it is not that. Is it some kind of algae? See below the fold ....... A second photograph taken at the same time with a proper camera at a longish focal length and a shutter speed fast enough to freeze the water. It seems likely that they are tree roots, probably willow (salix sp.). See here for a post with comments by Roy Lawrence.
